In Room 7 our topic this term is based on Antarctica.  We've really enjoyed learning about the Aurora Australis.  The Aurora Australis is the southern lights in Antarctica and only comes out in mid winter.  It lasts for 15 to 40 minutes.  The main colours are pale green and pink, some other colours you can get are purple, orange and yellow.  Auroras appear in many forms such as pillars, streaks and curtains. The Aurora Australis is caused by the earths magnetic field interacting with the solar wind.  We've told you a bit about the Aurora Australis, if you want to learn more about Antarctica go to http://www.learnz.org.nz/
